Synopsis

The film, based on the novel, is set in the year 1757, during the French-Indian War. British and French soldiers battle for the domination of the continent America. Both the British and the French get help from several Indian nations. Hawkeye (Day-Lewis) is a European, but was raised by the last of the Mohican. One day he saves the lives of Alice and Cora, two daughters of a British officer. Without very well be aware, he is involved in the war. Moreover, among them that violence is a love relationship between Cora and Hawkeye.

The author of the filmed book, James Fenimore Cooper, in his story two different indigenous peoples are confused. When he speaks about the Mohican, saying he Mohiingan (Mohegan), and the Mohican (Mahican), which formed part of the Lenni-Lenape (Delaware) people. His book had better as: The Last of The Mohegan.
